WAMI Awards

Last night I got to present the best Metal band award at the WAMIs. Beyond Fate took home the award. Congratulations to Beyond Fate. They were super excited about winning. After they won, they all called family and friends to share their excitement. It was really cool to watch it go down. Look for them to guest on the Local Edge soon.

As for the event itself, it was totally top notch. I got to hang out with Koz and Johnny from Profane. Thanks for the drink Koz! We talked about days gone by. Some of those memories go way back, before there even was a Razor 94.7. I'm talking about Megahertz. Those of you who were there know what I'm talking about. I got to meet Lucas Cates. I told him about how my son loves Packer Rock Anthem. He seemed cool and he talked about the new material they are working on. I also got to reconnect with Greg Waters. It's been too many years since we've crossed paths, so it was cool to catch up with him as well. It was a great night and I hope that I am part of some of their future events.

cd of the day--Bloodhound Gang--Dingleberry Haze This was the ep that got the ball going for the gang. Crazy lyrics, but total fun

Piss

I finally got the new/old Pantera track this morning. I can see why it did not make it onto a Vulgar Display of Power. It isn't totally focused enough. Parts of it they lifted and put onto songs on Far Beyond Driven (Use my Third Arm). It is still a killer song. It takes me back to the days when there was no others that came close to what Pantera was. It is angry, tough, and in your face metal. Dime played like no one else. Pantera was a juggernaut and is truly missed. Download Piss or wait for the 20th anniversary edition of A Vulgar Display and remember how great Pantera was.

Too much metal?

I'm not sure if there is such a thing, but I might be getting to that point. My inbox is overflowing!!! I have new tracks from Hellyeah, Shadows Fall, and Prong, not to mention full lengths from Municipal Waste, Dirge Within, Ministry, Napalm Death, Job for a Cowboy, Overkill, and Exumer. Plus, tomorrow we should get the long awaited Pantera song. It's name is "Piss". I think that says it all. It was recorded during the Vulgar Display of Power album. It is supposedly the last unreleased Pantera studio track. Check out the artwork in classic urine color!!

It's been twenty years already since Vulgar came out!

For all of the best in true metal, listen to Over the Edge, Saturday nights from 9-11.
Over the Edge--we rule the pit!

cd pick of the day--My Ruin--A Southern Revelation. This came out late last year as a free download. Tairrie B doesn't sound as angry as she used to be, but she still screams her lungs out when she needs to. They cover Van Halen's Mean Street as the last track. Get yours at myruin.net

Monster Trucks XL

Monster Trucks XL was a blast. Thanks to all of the Razor listeners who stopped out. I think the highlight of the night was Get R Done starting on fire and smoking out the place. My kids and I loved it! Get R Done stole the show throughout the night. It was a great time and I look forward to it next year. Thanks also to the great people from Brown County Arena, the Monster Trucks XL tour, and everyone else involved for such a great time!

cd pick of the day--Lamb of God--Resolution Totally crushing!

Super Weekend

No, not for the reason you might be thinking. I hope the Giants and Patriots beat each other up. I don't particularly care for either team. I think the Giants will win though. They want it more.

Can you believe the Milwaukee Bucks? They took it to Lebron and crew again. Brandon Jennings had a stellar game, including an "in your face" three pointer right after he had drained one right before it. Unbelieveable! Let's hope they keep it up! I wish I would have gotten in on the bus trip our sister station The Score was putting together! Next time!

Onto the real Super Weekend part:

I'll be at Monster Trucks XL at the Brown County Arena Friday night from 5-7. I'll be there to make sure everyone is hyped for the destruction and carnage that will go down that night. It's a great family event. My daughter even wants to go this year!

Saturday night during Over the Edge I will be playing the entire new Lamb of God cd, Resolution. If you haven't gotten this release yet, prepare to be crushed!! Over the Edge is on every Saturday night from 9-11. Over the Edge--We rule the pit!!

Directly following Over the Edge is the Local Edge. This week will be part two of focus on the new cd from Candy Machine Guns. I'll be throwing on 5 more songs off the disc. Then you'll know what all the excitement is about this band. It features Tim (formerly of Profane) and Hobbs (formerly of 9mm Solution). They combine forces to deliver a killer debut cd. Make sure you check it out!

I heard that Todd Tousey is back in the area. I need to get in touch with him. I want him to put out another Antagonist cd!!!!

cd pick of the day---Drunk Horse--Adult Situations This is rawk n roll at it's finest. Put on anything from this band and get ready for a good time.

Drowning Pool/Union Undgerground/New Medicine news

How did I miss the news that Ryan McCombs was out of Drowning Pool? I thought they were a great fit together. Then again, I thought Ryan sounded great with Soil. We'll see where he pops up next. I think he should do a solo project or something where he can call the shots more. I really hope Drowning Pool finds a singer that can keep the ball rolling for them. Just the amount of success they've had, with three different singers is impressive. Who will be lead singer #4? By the way, raise your hand if you're a sinner! (raise your hand if you saw them at Ryan's in support of Sinner! Awesome show!)

Former Union Underground singer Bryan Scott has finally gotten the ball rolling on his new project, Cult to Follow. He sent me the following:

I checked out the song. It sounds pretty good. I can't wait for the full length.

I was in contact with the booking agency for New Medicine suggesting places they could play in the area. It sounds like they are working on something. The guy that I spoke with said that maybe in March they would have something lined up. I hope it happens. I really like New Medicine. Make sure you check out the cd!

Merry Christmas! Whether you get the lump of coal or the new Lexus, enjoy the holidays!

cd pick of the day--Only Flesh From the gutter to the grave This one is kind of weird, in a Dog Fashion Disco type of way. I'm very intrigued by it.
